Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund
AI training for your team, up to 100% reimbursed.
Massachusetts companies with 100 or fewer employees can have our AI trainings paid back through the state's Workforce Training Fund Express program.
Who qualifies
From Commonwealth Corporation's Express Program guidelines.
Massachusetts location An office or other physical site in MA that your company owns or leases.
100 or fewer Massachusetts W-2 employees. Trainees must be your payroll employees, not contractors.
Up to $15,000 Per company per year, and up to $3,000 per employee per course and per year.
Pays MA unemployment insurance For your W-2 employees. That contribution funds the Workforce Training Fund. Nonprofits on the reimbursable method and government agencies are not eligible.

Does the Workforce Training Fund cover AI training?
Yes, for courses listed in Commonwealth Corporation's Express Course Directory. All four Synaptic Labs trainings on this page are listed, and eligible companies can be reimbursed up to 100% of the cost, within the program caps.
Who is eligible?
Massachusetts businesses with 100 or fewer Massachusetts W-2 employees that pay into the Workforce Training Fund through state unemployment insurance. You need an office or other physical location in Massachusetts that the company owns or leases; home addresses and P.O. boxes do not count. Nonprofits that pay UI contributions can qualify too.
Nonprofits that use the reimbursable method for unemployment insurance are not eligible, and neither are government agencies.
Trainees must be your full-time or part-time payroll employees working in Massachusetts. Contractors and temps are not eligible.
How much does the grant cover?
Up to 100% of an approved course, within the program caps: $300 per instructional hour, $3,000 per employee per course and per year, and $15,000 per company per year. Costs above the caps are paid by your company.

When should we apply?
Before the training. Your Express service agreement starts 21 days after you apply, and training can't begin before that date. The course start date you enter can be up to 6 months after you apply, and all training must be finished within 12 months of the agreement start date.
What documents do we need?
A Certificate of Good Standing from the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, dated within 6 months of your application; a Certificate of Compliance from the Department of Unemployment Assistance that confirms you contribute to the Workforce Training Fund; and a signed IRS Form W-9, dated within the past year.
How does reimbursement work?
It's a reimbursement grant: your company pays our invoice first. After the training, you submit the signed reimbursement form, the list of trainees, our invoice and proof of payment. The full course hours must be delivered to be reimbursed in full.
Do employees train on paid time?
Yes. Employees must be paid their regular rate during training, including live virtual sessions and any assignments or pre-work.
